SeƱor Turnbaugh

Casey is getting back into the swing of things with school. It started on August 12th, and it always takes a couple of weeks to get adjusted to waking up early, and talking for 6 hours! We sometimes go over after school and help him grade papers, or bring him an after school snack! His classroom was feeling a bit dull, so Casey had a great idea of ordering flags and hanging them from the ceiling. We ordered them from a teacher resource website, and I was really pleasantly surprised with how much they add to the room. Hopefully we can continue to add to the flag collection throughout the years. I can't believe Casey is starting his 4th year! He is a great teacher...and a handsome one too!

My New Job

So, I have a new job. Thanks to a generous family member I am able to work at home from my computer, about 8 hours a week. The work comes in on Wednesday and I basically do data entry and have to have it done by Friday at noon. I knew I was excited to have a way to make extra income, but I didn't realize how excited I would become to actually use my brain! You know, in other ways besides trying to determine the timing and order of cooking dinner, or managing a budget. All those things are very fulfilling to me as well, but it feels nice to do some other types of work and see myself improving and doing it faster. It is fun because I can challenge myself to see if I can get my work done faster then the week before, while still maintaining the quality of the work. It has been a blessing, not only to receive some extra money each week, but to feel good at something. And the flexibility of it is what is really great for someone who doesn't want to leave their kids to work. So, the moral of the story is that us Mom's need to stimulate our minds in whatever way we can. Whether it be reading a book or taking an online class. It will make us be better Mom's. Oh, and I have such a respect for Mom's who work outside of the home, full time. That would be so exhausting! I don't know how they do it!

New Pleasure

I just discovered fabric softener and it has changed my life. Okay, not really. I always knew it existed, but I thought it was way too expensive...and that all I needed was detergent to get my clothes clean. Boy, was I wrong! I recently bought some Downy fabric softener, and the Downy ball. It has changed my outlook on laundry forever! It not only makes my clothes so much softer, but it makes them smell absolutely LOVELY! I am actually somewhat excited to do laundry now! Whatever I can do to add excitement to the mundane chores of motherhood, I am all for. If you don't use fabric softener, I am here to tell you...um...you should! It is amazing. Maybe a Downy Representative will read this and put me on a commercial! I would love that.

Happy Birthday to Tytan

My sweet Tytan turned 4 years old yesterday. He had a swimming party at the Rec Center on Saturday. And then yesterday we celebrated his actual birthday by opening a few more gifts, eating lunch at Chick-fil-A, and going to Red Robin for dinner. All in all, he got LOTS of toys and had a special day.

In some ways, I can't believe he is four already. In other ways, I can't believe he is ONLY four, because it seems like he has been on this Earth a lot longer! He has seemed older than he is though, from the moment he was born. Ty has a special Spirit. I know he was sent here to do GREAT things. He is a natural leader, the life of the party, and an amazing brother and son. I really couldn't be more proud of him, and I feel blessed that I was chosen to be his Mom. He made me a mother, and for that I will never be able to thank him enough. Sometimes I joke with him, and show him the scars he forever gave me (stretch marks, lovely). But they are just a physical reminder of the amazing experience of being pregnant with him, and ultimately seeing his beautiful big eyes, staring up at me, the moment he was born. He came into this world with his eyes wide open, and he hasn't changed since! The day he was born, my heart became whole. I could only imagine the love of a mother before he was born, and now I get to feel it everyday. Hearing him call me Mom, no matter how it is spoken...there is no greater treasure than that.

U.S. Senior Open

For Christmas last year I had bought Casey tickets to a practice round at the U.S. Senior Open. It was held in Colorado Springs, this year, at the Broadmoor hotel. So we got down there at about 11am. We had to park far away from the course, and then take a bus over to it. It was about 95 degrees that day...very hot, and even hotter when you are pregnant. We took the boys double stroller, which they usually don't ride in anymore. But we knew we were going to be walking a lot. Luckily, about a half hour after we got there it got overcast, which helped with the heat a lot. It was fun, and a dream come true for Casey. It was just hard keeping the boys quite when the golfers were teeing off. So it was a little nerve racking. But it was nice taking them because they get a lot of attention from the golfers (which meant autographs and free golf balls) plus when they ride in their stroller they are like celebrities. Every single person that passes by makes comments about them, and especially about what a work out Casey must have been getting pushing them up and down all the hills. Thanks goodness he is so strong, or else I don't know how we would do anything! A couple of hours was about all we could take with little boys, and me being pregnant. Poor Casey could have stayed there all day if it weren't for us. But he had a great time still. He TALKED to Hale Irwin (if you know golf, then you know who that is) And he was stoked that Loren Roberts came up and gave Tanner his golf ball. Plus some other mentionables that we saw up close were Fred Funk and Mark O'Meara. All in all it was a fun experience!
