President Hinckley

President Hinckley passed away on Sunday. And of course I was sad to hear the news, but at the same time so happy that he would be reunited with his sweet wife again. President Hinckley was the prophet for half of my life! He meant so much to me. I loved his sense of humor. I loved his willingness to bring Mormonism to the public by doing things like going on Larry King. His dedication to building temples has been truly amazing. The completion of the Conference Center has been phenomenal. I love the Proclamation to the Family, as well as his famous talk about the "B Attitudes". I will always hold a special place for him in my heart, and will talk about him with great fondness to my children and grandchildren. He will be missed, but his lasting influence will hold strong well past his mortal life on this Earth.

Sick and Tired of being Sick and Tired

Sickness hit the Turnbaugh home in a major way this past week. I got it first, and I lost my voice and had a fever for two days. Then Tytan got it. He had a fever of 101.9 for 12 hours! His breathing became very shallow and he seemed to be struggling. So we had to take him to the after hours care twice in two days. The diagnosis is viral pneumonia. He has to be on a defibrilator every four hours. It puts medicine into his lungs to help him breathe. And to top it all of he has an ear infection. He is getting much better, to where he doesn't need it so often. Poor guy. He calls it his fishy face, because the oxygen mask looks like a fish. Casey got it bad too, and luckily Tanner just got a minor case of this nasty bug. This has made me appreciate our health in a new way! And I am so thankful that we have excellent insurance. I am grateful that I didn't have to think twice about taking him to after hours or about getting him medicine because I knew the costs would be low. We may be sick, but we are still blessed! Keep your prayers with us for a fast and speedy recovery!

My little Cowboys

Friday afternoon we went to the National Stock Show Rodeo. And it was so much fun! We had amazing seats right behind where the cowboys load into the chutes. I actually got dirt kicked on me from the horses and bulls. The boys loved it. Tytan has been to one rodeo before, and he is fascinated by it when it comes on TV. So he was anticipating the "Buckin' Bulls"the whole night. And they were no disappointment! At the end of the night his Abuela got him a toy horse. And when I asked him what his horse's name was he quickly said, "Buck". And Tanner, he looks so cute in a cowboy hat. His big head fills it out perfectly! It was a fun night for everyone! Check out the slideshow below.

Rodeo Anyone?

My new camera

For Christmas my Dad gave us an amazing digital camera. I love taking pictures, and this camera makes doing that even more amazing and rewarding. I used it the whole time we were in Arizona, but when I got home and tried to use it...of course it wouldn't work. The lens was making a crazy grinding sound, and it wouldn't take pictures in auto focus, only manual. So after a discussion with my Dad, and the Nikon customer service rep, it is probably a defective lens. You have to understand just how ironic this is. Last Christmas my parents gave us a portable DVD player, and once again, when we got back home it wasn't working! We had to take it back to Costco and get another one. So, I am trying to figure out why this happens to me...but none of my other siblings. I am just happy that all I have to do is send the lens in, with the receipt, and they will fix the problem for me. But honestly....WHY ME????

Tytan and Tanner

The cutest boys you will ever meet! I am quite partial though. Tytan and Tanner are only 20 months apart, but their personalities couldn't get any different. Tytan is outgoing, social, sweet, kind, sympathetic, and patient. Tanner is shy, serious, quite with strangers, stubborn, hilarious, brave, and moody. They are so different, but I am happy that they will be able to teach each other things, and learn from one another. They never cease to amaze me.

My very first post

It is official. This is my very first post as a blogger. I feel so technological right now, it is not even funny! I wanted to do a blog as a way for me to be creative and keep in touch with family and friends. Hmm...first post down. Now what do I do?
